This is Teetrack — the time tracker for freelancers. And if you're new here, you don't have to start from scratch — you can bring your history across from whatever you were using before. Because the thing that actually stops people switching time trackers isn't the new tool, it's the old one. Years of entries, sitting in Toggl, and starting over on an empty dashboard feels like throwing all of it away. So let's not — this is a brand-new account on the free plan, and the first thing it offers me is an import.
I've already pulled the export out of Toggl — Reports, Detailed, export as C S V. Teetrack wants two things from me — which tool it came from, and which timezone those timestamps were written in. That one matters more than it sounds, because get it wrong and every entry in the file shifts by an hour. Then I just drop the file in.
And here's the part that matters — nothing has been written yet. This is a preview: six hundred rows in the file, five hundred and ninety-eight it's going to import, and two it can't read. Those two were timers still running when I took the export — no end time, so there's nothing to import. And it tells me that now, up front, instead of leaving me to discover it in three months.
So I hit import, and it runs in the background — you can go and do something else. And then it's done, with warnings, exactly as promised. Five hundred and ninety-eight entries, and look what came with them — four projects, three clients, four tags, all created from the file.
One more thing, and honestly it's the reason I'd risk doing this at all. Every import stays undoable for seven days — one button, the whole batch, back to exactly how it was. Which means your first import isn't a decision you have to get right, it's just something you try.
That's the difference between an import and a paste. My projects are real projects — I can put a rate and a budget on them right now. My clients came across as clients, my tags came through, and a year of structure I built in the old tool is still structure in this one.
